Ok, so I'm so busy during the day that I like to have some quiet time up at night by myself.
I worked out extra hard today in karate. My heart rate was up the whole time and my face was red and I was sweaty! I don't know why the doctor told me to stop karate and get into a cardio class...she also told me that I needed to go on a low fat diet and lose some weight. Mind you I went in to get my iron level checked and she had not seen me in a couple of years. She did not even bother to check my history....I have lost over 60 pound since I was in last...is that not losing weight or what?? I don't care what she says, I am not going to quit karate and get into some stupid cardio class. I know the type of karate I do and how hard it is....she has NO idea what it is like. It is NOT Tai Chi. It is shudokan karate....karate kid style. In the kids class that I assisted in this morning I did hand stands against the wall with alternating reverse leg lifts....works on upper body strength and balance....and the kids in class loved it and wanted to know how to do it. They all watched me work hard today as they trained on the other half of the room with the other teacher.
I think the fridge is calling me...I better get to bed before I answer.
Have a great day tomorrow!

the weekend...
Friday ended even worse than I thought it was going to be, I ended up eating 2200 calories for the day. I thought I had the day under control after I blogged I made a plan to redeem the morning but, it didn't work out the way I planned. I started to feel like I was coming down with a cold and felt really hungry.
Saturday was a great day for food choices!! I did good and came in 300 calories under my daily allowance. And I ate all day, how did that work???? I better go back and check those good choices for future reference. I had to take my son in to be fitted for a tux to go to a prom that he was invited to. He looked really nice at the fitting. When we got home I made mexican food....well my husband had already started it and I finished it. I had a wonderful taco salad. yummy!!
Sunday was not so good. I did come down with that cold and a fever. I was so hungry all day again. I tried to make good choices and for the most part I did but, I ended up eating 2100 calories. and no exercise. I did identify a couple of triggers for me.
1. I eat when I'm tired.....when I'm up late.
2. I eat when I don't feel good....comfort food!
3. I eat when I'm sad.
and a given....I eat when I'm happy too. But the first three reasons were on my mind this last weekend because I experienced all three. On Sunday I had a large cup of warm tea to help "comfort" myself. It was filling and comforting. ( ok, I did have a half of a bagel with it though) it was a step in the right direction. I'm working on it...I'm not perfect. :)
There are some bad habits that I have dropped and have not gone back to:
1. no mayonaise on sandwiched
2. cream cheese changed to ff cream cheese
3. ranch changed to homemade ff sour cream ranch dip
Good changes that I have now made a part of my life. Hoping to find a few more things to add to the list.
As for today...I was right on with my calories. (I'm up late but, I'm not eating, I have some water right here.) I excercised twice today.....45 minutes doing karate with 10 minutes doing 300 step ups. Then I did 35 minutes on the wii fit plus tonight. I didn't track my water very good today and I think I might be a bit low for the day but, now is not the time to make it up! I'm going to bed.

Weigh-in day...
Today is weigh-in day and it went well. I lost 2.4 pounds this week. I feel really good about that!

On the flip side, today I allow myself a high calorie day and I already ate too much. I don't feel so good about that. :(
I never set out to just gorge myself, I just allow myself a few extra things on my high calorie day than I allow the rest of the week. For instance.....I usually have a bagel and cream cheese with some turkey bacon or something for breakfast and then I have coffee and a scone for a midmorning snack. Lots of carbs and fat that I don't usually do.( I usually have oatmeal.) I have them in the morning so hopefully I can work some of them off by evening. I have been doing this on Thursdays and then at night I do two karate classes back to back. I don't feel so bad about it on Thursdays. Well, today I'm feeling bad already because my daughter and I decided to change weigh-in day to Fridays because we have ice-cream on friday nights and she wanted to have high-calorie day and ice cream night on the same day, so today we had our bagel and some ham for breakfast and with coffee I had a scone. That's ok but, then I started nibbling on the last scone in the package till I had nibbled it to death. Now I have eaten a bagel and TWO scones. NOT GOOD !!
Last night was great in karate. I have been struggling with a few people there and I feel like there is always tension with a couple of women. I decided to just be myself and be nice like I always am and if they have a problem let it be their own problem. I am tired of the drama, these women are in their mid 30's-mid 40's and it is like high school drama there sometimes. I am the oldest at 47. There is a bit of history with the one that I have had the most problems with lately and I think I have narrowed it down to what I think the problems might be but If I ask I don't think I will get a straight answer from her. She is just that way but, that's ok nobody is perfect. I just want to move on and drop the drama. enough is enough.

fear setting in...
Ok, so last night I set a new goal ticker. I was regretting it the rest of the night. I am so fearful that I can never reach that goal and I will be forever disappointed with myself.
I really have no idea of what my final goal should be. For awhile I was tossing around losing 30 more pounds. I have been there before although I don't remember it - it was 32 years ago when I was 15 but I do remember the weight number.
So, today I was going to go in and change it to lose 40 more pounds because it is in between the two. But, I think I will just suck it up and leave it where it is and see how things go for now. I set a goal and I will work towards it. Who knows maybe I will do it.....I could surprise myself, after all..... I never thought I could ever in my wildest dreams lose the first 75 pounds and I DID IT!

Monday...
Mondays are always a good start of the week for me. I get on track with healthy foods and can focus more on me than on the whole family after the weekend. Today was a great day! I ate fairly good with the exception of a couple of bites of a jelly doughnut...well about a third of a jelly doughnut......and no, I did not track it in my calories. I better go do that!
I tracked everything else and did pretty good today. I got in a bit of exercise, not much but a little today.
My weigh in day will be this Friday I think. For the last 4 years I have weighed in on Thursday but, my daughter and I are talking about changing it to Fridays. Not sure yet.
I plan to check in with the healthy you challenge each week as well.
I'm off to get some sleep now.

doing ok...
I'm doing ok with getting back to basics.
I drank my water today.
I did not exercise.
I did track my calories.
I did not skip a meal.
I read some very encouraging blogs today.
I stayed with in my calories but, did not make healthy choices all day. ( I ate a danish with my coffee this morning and ice cream at night. The rest of the day was good choices)
Tomorrow is a new day and I will do good.
Most of my day consisted of going in to town to get karate pictures taken of my whole family at our dojo. We had a family picture taken and an individual one of each of us and then had one of just my husband and I . I was so nervous about getting a picture taken of me. It turned out to be fun and they were very nice. I can't wait to get them back!

it's been sooooo long...
Wow, it's been so long since I've been on here.
I'm still here and kicking (4 days a week at karate class. ha, ha )
OK, sorry for the bad humor.
I have now maintained my weight loss for 2 years. I am more comfortable with who I am and where I am now. I am ready to move on. I really got scared of the weight loss and of the unknown. My life was changing and I could not keep up.
I am trying to set new goals now and stick with them, one day at a time. I made it work for me before and now I want to do it again. I have gained a couple of pounds this month and this has put my weight loss back to 70 pounds gone (not 75 like my healthy hearts says). I'm not going to change the healthy hearts though....I am going to lose back down to 75 pounds lost and lose even more....one pound at a time.
Back to basics is the only way I know how to get started again.
Drink my water
make healthy food choices
track calories
exercise
don't skip meals
and start blogging again.....I believe it helps.....I need support!

busted heart...
This is my new favorite song! Music really speaks to my heart and helps me stay at peace in my head.
I have had a lot on my mind lately and many things in my heart. Life gets complicated at times and yet God is still always in control. I thank God for family and good friends.
I have lost the motivation that I once had for losing weight. I'm not sure what has happened. I got lazy. I got scared. I got caught up in the new me. I am afraid of the unknown. I let people's comments and lack of compliments get to me. I wasn't sure that I could maintain what I had accomplished. It got harder. It's taking too long. I dropped the "me" time to exercise.
Now what? I want to move on. I have maintained for a year or so and I want to move on. I'm tired of sitting still at this weight. I want to lose more but, how???? I know that is a silly question since I already lost 75 pounds but, I'm not not sure I can lose more. Each day seems to be a struggle at where I am.
Any ideas...any help??
Have a great day.

life goes on....
In all of the ups and downs in this world life still goes on and you have to pick yourself up and keep on taking care of yourself. I thank God for friends and hugs. Another thing that gets me through the rough times in life is music. I have been listening to a lot of music and came across this band Royal Tailor. Check out this video ....I love the song. Just one of many that is speaking to my heart right now.
I have been eating healthy but not losing anything significant. up-down, up-down by a couple of pounds each week.
Even though I am still eating healthy I am not eating regularly and I think that has a lot to do with losing. I am still training in karate.....it is the one thing that I really look forward to each week. I will be up for another test next month. I am really nervous about it but I'm sure it will go good. Four weeks to go and I need to get in some extra training. :) This test will be my "first degree" black belt certificate. I have been a black belt for one year now. You have to show the dedication and commitment for the full year before getting a certificate.

I can smile today....
I'm feeling a bit better today. Yesterday I talked, I cried, I hugged, I cried, I smiled, I thought I had it all together then another friend asked how I was then I cried again! As the day went on I smiled again, I cried, I smiled, I cried, I talked, I cried, I smiled, I laughed, I smiled, I hugged, I talked.......I slept, I felt so much better! I thank God for good friends and hugs just when you need them!
Today I cried, I prayed, I smiled, I even danced for a few seconds then I cried again. My heart is still broken and in pain but, I can feel God healing it. I know I can trust God with my heart!!

broken...
Today I am broken, broken hearted, broken spirit.......emotionally drained!
I deserve better, I will not turn to food to sooth my hurts.
I will take care of myself....I am worth it!

Medical update...
Since I last posted my health has greatly improved. I went into the doctor to get a recheck on my iron level. I told the doctor about a pain in my hip and from there found out I had a uterine fibroid tumor that was causing excessive bleeding which in turn was causing my iron level to drop dramatically. I had to have emergency surgery to remove the tumor and stop the bleeding. Things went very well with the surgery and I have recovered nicely.
I was put on bed rest for another two weeks but, did not keep to it. We had previous vacation plans to go to Disneyland for our 25th anniversary. I got the release from the doctor to go after one week. (I really stayed in bed for that week and rested up to heal.) Two days after the release I was on a plane to California with strict instructions to be in a wheel chair at all times and not to ride and big rides. The first day at Disneyland there were so many people I could not comprehend how we could get a wheel chair from one place to another so, I said I would just walk. Big, big, big mistake!!!! By the early afternoon I was in so much pain I was crying. I waited too long to eat and too long to take my pain meds. I had to sit for awhile and regroup. After that day we went in shifts and came back to the room to rest in-between. I felt better as each day went by.
After returning home and getting some much needed rest I was faced with the slow process of healing completely so I could return to karate. I could not stand the wait so I went anyway. I still could not do the physical part of all the moves. OH, and the thought of being punched in the stomach! ouch!! so, I sat on couch in the lobby and read my book going over every move in my head. My ever-so-patient partner sat with me at every class for four more weeks and as time went on we eventually were doing all the moves with just our upper body and arms while sitting on the couch. I'm sure it looked like pretty lame karate but, I was there and practicing. Over time I started going into class for short periods of time, then sitting on the floor for the rest of class teaching those that were up on the floor.
I am back up to speed in karate and going to test for my black belt certification in a few weeks. I have had my black belt for one year now and can now be an official certified first degree black belt.
Through all my surgery and resting I gained about 10 pounds but, it soon came right off as I got better. I am now back to where I was pre-surgery and have been sitting here for quite a while. I eat fairly healthy most of the time but, I don't "work" on losing weight much anymore.....I need new inspiration to continue losing weight. I have maintained a 70-75 pound loss for a year now and would like to move on to lose about 25-40 more.
